Castleton falls on the road to Christopher Newport 90-68

Newport News , VA - Castleton trailed 33-32 after the first 20 minutes as sophomore guard Rich Reilly's return home to Virginia netted him 14 of his game-high 22 in the first half. Christopher Newport would turn up the heat in the second half and limit Reilly's effectiveness, while out-scoring the Spartans 57-36 in the final 20.

Reilly was 4-7 from the floor in the first half, connecting on all four of his three-point attempts, and a pair of free throws. The Virginia-native was just 2-14 in the second-half, however with both field goals again coming from beyond the arc.

Jeremy Jorgensen notched his third consecutive double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman, Zach Briggs got his first start of the year and responded with 14 rebounds.

For the game, the Spartans were 26-of-76 (34%) from the field, 8-of-20 (40%) from behind the arc and 8-of-16 from the free throw line. Christopher Newport was 38-of-77 (49%) from the floor, 5-of-16 (31%) from downtown and 9-of-11 (82%) from the charity stripe.

Edward Riley paced the Captains with a career-high 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting. He scored 19 of his 22 points in the second half. He also finished with seven boards. Blasingame contributed 16 points, 13 rebounds and seven swats in the win.

The Spartans fall to 1-4 on the year. CNU improves to 4-2. Castleton opens North Atlantic Conference play on Friday, December 8 when they travel to Lasell College for an 8:00 tip-off. The team follows that up Saturday when they play at Lesley, game time 7:00.
