Castleton falls 10-0 to conference foe, Holy Cross

Worcester, MA-Castleton fell to conference foe, Holy Cross 10-0 in their second game in as many days. Freshman Lisa Wilson (Corunnda, Ont. Canada) and junior Sam Rush ( Wakefield, Mass.) each added two goals to the Crusader offense. Holy Cross improves to 3-1-0 overall and 3-1-0 in the ECAC East while Castleton drops to 1-4-0 and remains winless in the ECAC East at 0-4-0.

Holy Cross got the scoring started 10:01 into the first period and didn't stop there. The goal, scored by Rush with an assist by junior Allie DeAngelis (Framingham, Mass.), would be all the Crusaders would need to take the game from the Spartans. Sophomore Amy McGee (Newtown, Pa.) put the second goal on the board for Holy Cross 17:33 into the game of off passes from freshman Jackie Flint (Hingham, Mass.) and sophomore Marie Hickey (Mendota Heights, Minn.). Sophomore Stephanie Couzin (Chicago, Ill.) scored a shorthanded goal with 17 seconds left in the first period.

Freshman Kathryn O'Connor (Brookfield, Conn.) scored 1:53 into the second stanza, while Wilson capitalized with an unassisted goal at 2:53. Junior Parny Ormiston (Duxbury, Mass.) added another Crusader shorthanded goal 1:13 later to give Holy Cross a 6-0 lead. Rush would give the Crusaders their seventh goal and freshman Erica van DeGraff (Guelph, Ont. Canada) and junior Sam Murphy (Canton, Mass.) both added goals in the third period.

Senior netminder Casey McCullion (Philadelphia, Pa.) stopped five shots from the Spartans in her first shutout of the season. Rachel Dunn and Kalla Robb split the time in net for Castleton. Dunn made 20 saves while Robb stopped 16 shots from the Crusader offense.
