Brian Budrow enters his first season as a graduate assistant coach for VTSU Castleton.
Coaching: Spent one season as an assistant coach at the University of Utah in 2013. Worked primarily with pitchers and coached 1st base. Coached high level, high school club baseball in Arizona for more than 8 years.
Professional: Drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 28th round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft. Pitched for 3 seasons in the minors finishing with a career 15-7 record, 11 saves, 3.23 ERA, and 144 strikeouts in 164 innings pitched.
College: Began college career at Oregon State University ... member of 2006 and 2007 national championship teams. Budrow transferred to the University of Utah in 2008 after spending two years at Oregon State. He was a second-team all-Mountain West Conference pick as a senior in 2009 and helped lead the Utes to the NCAA Tournament that year. Budrow went 11-10 with one save over his two-year Ute career with a 4.74 ERA and 152 strikeouts.
High School: Four time all-state at Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale, Ariz. ... Arizona Baseball Coaches Association Player of the Year in 2005 ... twice named Regional Player of the Year, and earned four all-region nods ... finished with the 5A state record for wins (34) ... finished high school career 34-4 with a 1.87 ERA ... had 262 strikeouts ... also had a career batting average of .419 with 17 homers and 139 RBI ... helped team win region all four years and to four state playoff berths.
Budrow received a Bachelor of Science in Communications at the University of Utah in 2013 and is pursuing a master's degree in Athletic Leadership from VTSU Castleton. He currently resides in Rutland, Vermont with wife, Calista, son, Teddy, and daughter, Wren.
