WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.- The Vermont State Castleton men's golf team competed at the MCLA Invitational Tuesday afternoon at the Waubeeka Golf Links. 

Sam Knight (Madison, Wisc.) started with a triple bogey on the first hole but recovered, as he finished the round with an eight-over-par 79 with a pair of birdies. He also finished in a tie for 10th place. 

Filip Ransdorf (Roudnice nad Labem, Czech Republic) and Cam Reid (Kimberley, BC) both shot an 88 for the round. Ransdorf birdied the fourth hole while Reid eagled it. 

Will Woodruff (Bloomingdale, N.Y.) shot an 89 and birdied the fourth hole as well. 

Tyler Beers made his season debut, shooting a 90 and recording a birdie on the fourth hole. 

Next, the Spartans will host the Castleton Invitational this weekend at Rutland Country Club. Tee times will start at 11 am for both rounds.
