BALTIC, Conn.- The Vermont State Castleton men's golf team in the first round of the LEC Tournament at the Mohegan Sun Golf Club. The Spartans shot a +34 for the round and are in fifth place.

Filip Ransdorf (Roudnice nad Labem, Czech Republic) led the Spartans and recorded a two-over-par 73 with four birdies and shot an even par on the back nine. He also finished the round in a tie for sixth place.   

Sam Knight (Madison, Wisc.) finished with a seven-over-par 78 with a pair of birdies, while Will Woodruff (Bloomingdale, N.Y.) shot an 83 and birdied on the 10th hole. 

Cam Reid (Kimberley, BC) shot an 84 for the round and birdied on the 18th hole. 

Mason MacDougall (Cambridge, N.Y.) rounded out the Spartans with an 86. 

The Spartans will conclude the LEC Championship tomorrow. Tee times start at 10:30 am.
