CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's soccer team battled Plattsburgh State Tuesday evening, falling to the Cardinals in nonconference action.

How it Happened:
The Spartans struck first as
Chloe Green found the back of the net off an assist from
Gwen Bridges to give Castleton an early lead.
Plattsburgh answered shortly after, finding the equalizer before taking the lead in the 26
th minute. The Cardinals controlled possession for the remainder of the half, but
Julie Cooper kept Castleton within reach with several key saves.
Ella Hall entered in goal to start the second half, making an immediate save as the Cardinals continued their attack. Plattsburgh didn't let up with a new keeper in net, but Hall stood tall with several saves to keep the Spartans within striking distance.
Emma Kirby nearly answered for the Spartans, sending a shot just right of the net, but the Cardinals continued to carry the play and added another goal in the 75
th minute to extend their lead.
