SALEM, Mass. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's tennis team was blanked 7-0 at Salem State on Saturday.
The Vikings took the doubles point during the first and second matches, as
Remy Maynard and
Tanner Ciufo fell 6-2 and
Jackson Paquin and
Charles Watson 6-0, respectively. Salem took match three via default for a 1-0 lead.
At the top spot in singles play, Ciufo fell 6-1, 6-2 and Maynard fell 6-0, 6-0 at the second spot. At the third spot, Watson battled, but ultimately fell 6-1, 6-3 and Paquin was swept 6-0, 6-0 at the fourth spot.
Addy Boynton dropped 6-0, 6-0 at the fifth spot, and the Vikings took the sixth spot via default for a 7-0 sweep.
The Spartans head to Southern Maine on Sunday, April 12, set for 12 p.m.
