Stevenson and Martin Claim Podium Finishes; Mikel Sets Program Record at LECs

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The Vermont State University Castleton track and field squads traveled to Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday to compete in the 2026 Little East Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Women's Results
Kalynn Stevenson was the runner-up in the discus with a throw of 40.66m, earning eight team points. She also finished just off the podium in the shot put with a toss of 11.82m, adding five more points.
o Stevenson led the Spartans with 13 of the team's 33 points.
Karli Martin finished third in the hammer throw with a career-best toss of 44.13m, earning six points.
Sienna Newth (37.34m) and Katelyn Yerdon (33.56m) finished fifth and eighth in the discus, respectively. Newth added four points, while Yerdon picked up the final point in the event.
Isabell Lanfear (11.51m) and Newth (10.88m) placed seventh and eighth in the shot put, respectively, combining for three team points.
• Lanfear also placed fifth in the javelin with a mark of 33.74m, earning four points.
Bethany Davis finished seventh in the 5,000m with a time of 19:16.62, earning two points for the team. The time also set a new program record, improving on her previous mark of 19:37.40 set last week at MIT.
 
Men's Results
• Jayden Mikel broke a program record in the 200-meter dash, placing 12th with a time of 22.89.
• Rookie Timothy Pratt competed in both the 110-meter hurdles and the high jump. He finished 11th in the hurdles with a time of 16.26 and placed 12th in the high jump with a leap of 1.77m.
• The Spartans finished eighth in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.18.
