Martin and Newth New England Qualifiers after Performances at RPI

TROY, N.Y. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's and women's track and field teams took part in the 2026 installation of the RPI Under the Lights Invitational hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Friday.
 
Men's Results:
  • Sean Roth had the best finish for the men, placing seventh in the 200m after being unseeded, setting a personal record of 23.34. Roth also set a personal record in the 100m dash with a personal best mark of 11.66.
  • Also finishing inside the top 10 was Timothy Pratt in the 100m hurdles with his time of 16.65.
 
Women's Results:
  • Karli Martin was a New England Qualifier in the hammer throw with her toss of 44.05m, setting a new program record. Martin finished 14th in the shot put with a distance of 10.36m.
  • Isabell Lanfear had the best finish of the day for the Spartans, placing third in the shot put (11.95m), while Kalynn Stevenson finished fourth (11.92m).
  • Also a New England Qualifier, Sienna Newth placed fourth in the discus with a mark of 36.91m, good enough for a new personal best.
  • Newth placed ninth in the shot put with a throw of 11.28m.
 
What's Next
The squads will return to action on Saturday, April 18, as they travel to Cambridge, Mass. for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sean Collier Invitational.
