CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's lacrosse team was unable to complete a comeback against Plattsburgh State on Tuesday afternoon, falling 15-9.

How It Happened
The visitors needed just 59 seconds to score their first goal of the day, but Castleton answered immediately with a tally from
Taylor Tallmadge to knot the game at 1-1 just 1:15 into the contest.
Plattsburgh regained momentum with a pair of goals midway through the period to take a 3-1 lead before
Bella Gale found the back of the net at the 2:21 mark, assisted by Tallmadge. The Cardinals added one more goal to carry a 4-2 advantage into the second period.
The Spartans struck early in the second to pull within one (4-3) as
Renny Cota converted on a free-position attempt. A trio of goals from Plattsburgh over a two-minute span extended the Cardinals' lead to 7-3 midway through the stanza. Gale slowed the momentum with her second goal of the afternoon, once again finishing off a feed from Tallmadge.
Each team added a goal before halftime, with Castleton's coming off the stick of Gale to complete her first-half hat trick.
Lanza Bellomo earned the assist, and the Spartans trailed 8-5 at the break.
Castleton opened the second half with back-to-back scores to pull within one, 8-7. Bellomo capitalized off an assist from
Phoebe Loomis, and Cota added an unassisted marker. Plattsburgh responded with six unanswered goals to build a 14-7 lead with 10 minutes remaining.
The hosts found late offense from Loomis, who converted a pair of free-position attempts to make it 14-9 with seven minutes left.
Plattsburgh added one final goal to secure the 15-9 victory.
