RUTLAND, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's tennis team opened Little East Conference play on Saturday, falling 7-0 to Rhode Island College.
The Anchormen grabbed the doubles point as they swept all three spots.
Remy Maynard and
Tanner Ciufo fell 6-1 at No. 1, while
Trevor Castino and
Charles Watson fell 6-2 at No. 2, and
Tyler Burke and
Jackson Paquin fell 6-0 at No. 3.
Castino battled at the fourth spot in singles play, but fell 6-4, 6-4, while Ciufo and Watson lost 6-3, 6-2 at the first and third spots, respectively. Burke fell 6-0, 6-1 at the fifth spot, and Maynard and
Addy Boynton were swept 6-0, 6-0 at the second and sixth spots.
The Spartans will host Thomas College tomorrow (March 29) at Vermont Sport & Fitness in Rutland at 1 p.m.
