SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's and men's outdoor track and field teams kicked off their seasons at the Yellow Jacket Open, hosted by American International College, on Saturday.
Women's Results
- Isabell Lanfear grabbed her first win of the outdoor season with a toss of 11.86m in the shot put. Kalynn Stevenson followed closely in second at 11.75m, while Sienna Newth placed ninth (10.23m) and Katelyn Yerdon rounded out the top 10 (9.63m).
- Continuing the strong showing in the throwing events, Karli Martin earned first place in the hammer throw with a mark of 39.64m. Rylee Moreau finished 13th in the event with a throw of 30.81m.
- Lanfear also finished on the podium in the javelin throw, placing third with a mark of 27.92m.
- Bethany Davis added another victory for the Spartans, placing first in the 5000m with a time of 19:38.24.
Men's Results
- Britain Goodemote had the top finish on the men's side, placing third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.08m.
- Jayden Mikel placed fifth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.48. Brody Hopkins (16th, 11.81), Sean Roth (17th, 11.94), and Goodemote (19th, 12.12) also finished in the top 20, with Roth and Goodemote recording personal bests.
- Mikel also had a strong showing in the 200m, placing sixth with a time of 22.96. Roth (24.46), Hopkins (24.96), and Jay Carroll (personal best, 25.24) also competed in the event.
- Timothy Pratt finished fifth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.78.

The Spartans will return to Springfield, Mass., next Saturday, April 4, for the Springfield College Classic.
