WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's alpine skiing team closed out the regular season with a third-place finish in the giant slalom at Waterville Valley Resort yesterday afternoon.
Alex Jorge Lopez led the Spartans with an eighth-place finish, clocking a time of 2:08.52 to wrap up the regular season ranked 13
th individually.
Sondre Andersen finished 14
th at 2:09.23 and closed the regular season ranked fifth overall, highlighted by a third-place slalom ranking.
Marti Llort placed 15
th in 2:09.42, while
Gavin Bochnak finished 25
th at 2:15.77.
Matthew Moeckel rounded out Castleton's scoring with a 28
th-place finish time of 2:17.66.
Castleton posted a combined team time of 6:27.17 to earn third place overall, finishing the regular season ranked third in the team standings behind Babson College and Clarkson University. Babson won the event with a time of 6:12.30, followed by Clarkson in second at 6:23.12.
The Spartans head to Sugarloaf on Saturday, February 14 for the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships, with giant slalom on day one and slalom on day two (February 15).
