CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine – The Vermont State University Castleton men's alpine skiing team placed 12th on the opening day of the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships at Sugarloaf after enduring a string of misfortune.
Castleton had two individual top-15 finishes.
Sondre Andersen led the Spartans with an eighth-place result in 1:43.78, while
Nate Hazen finished 13th in 1:45.27.
As a team, Castleton recorded a combined time of 6:06.53 to finish 12th. Babson College won the team title in 5:04.82, followed by Clarkson University in 5:13.65 and the University of Connecticut in 5:13.79.
The Spartans return to action tomorrow, February 15th for slalom at Sugarloaf.
