QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's alpine skiing team placed third overall in giant slalom competition on Saturday.
First-year
Marti Llort led the Spartans with a ninth-place finish, posting a two-run time of 2:11.12 to pace Castleton. Lucas Pons followed in 12th place at 2:12.04, while
Nate Hazen finished close behind in 13th with a time of 2:12.68.
Alex Jorge Lopez placed 15th in 2:13.13, followed by
Sondre Andersen in 17th with a time of 2:14.04.
Oliver Olsen crossed the line in 20th (2:14.41), with
Jack Conneely finishing 24th (2:16.38),
Gavin Bochnak 25th (2:16.56), and
Matthew Moeckel rounding out the Spartans' results in 30th place (2:18.51).
In the team standings, Babson College claimed first place with a combined time of 6:04.45, while Clarkson University finished second at 6:09.88. Castleton secured third to round out the podium with a time of 6:15.84.
Senior Day kicks off tomorrow as the Spartans continue competition with giant slalom at West Mountain.
