How It Happened
It was evenly played early, with the score remaining tied at zero well into the opening period. Visiting Plymouth State was given a break at 13:05 when Castleton's Ellie Schliebener was whistled for slashing, giving the Panthers a two-minute power play. Plymouth State wasted no time capitalizing on the man advantage, scoring in the 14th minute to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

Another tightly contested frame followed, but the Panthers struck again at 8:28 of the second period to extend their lead to 2-0.

Castleton came alive early in the third stanza as Plymouth State was called for body checking just 21 seconds in. The Spartans' special teams delivered, as Moa Carlsson found the back of the net with assists from Brooke Noble and Taylor Adams to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Schliebener made up for her earlier penalty by scoring with 14:21 remaining in the period to knot the game at 2-2. The captain's goal was assisted by fellow leader and classmate Carlsson.

Despite both teams pushing down the stretch, a winner was not decided in regulation, sending the contest into 3-on-3 overtime.

The extra period opened with Plymouth State winning the faceoff, but the Spartans quickly gained possession and fired three quality shots on goal—one blocked, one saved, and one that rang off the pipe.

Castleton finally ended the contest at 2:34 of overtime as Taylor Adams buried the puck off a faceoff feed from Meg Aiken.

• Carlsson and Adams each recorded two points on a goal and an assist.
• Aiken added a team-best 14 faceoff wins to go along with one assist.
Kara Boassaly earned the win, turning aside 30 shots for her sixth victory of the season.
• Castleton held narrow advantages in shots (36-32) and faceoff wins (31-28).
