Andersen Earns First Career Slalom Win as Castleton Takes Third Overall

NEWRY, Maine – The Vermont State University Castleton men's alpine skiing team placed third in the slalom event at Sunday River on Monday to kickoff the 2026 season. 

Sondre Andersen claimed his first career collegiate win, finishing first in the slalom with a time of 1:29.44. Freshmen Marti Llort and Sven Cornelisse earned top-15 finishes in their collegiate debuts. 

Nate Hazen recorded the 10th-fastest combined time of the day, while Oliver Olsen and Jack Conneely rounded out the Castleton scoring with top-20 performances. 

Castleton posted a combined team time of 4:47.12. Babson College won the event at 4:33.00, with the University of Connecticut finishing second at 4:42.03.
