Spartans Sweep the Weekend: Castleton Goes 3-0 at Vermont Volleyball Classic with Victory Over Norwich

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's volleyball team capped off a perfect weekend at the Vermont Volleyball Classic with a hard-fought sweep over Norwich University on Sunday afternoon. The Spartans edged out the Cadets in three tightly contested sets to stay undefeated.

How it Happened
  • Castleton opened the match with a strong start, hitting .435 in the first set behind efficient swings from Jocelyn Ray and Sam Ford, though Norwich kept the score close with tough defense.
  • The Cadets responded in the second set with their best offensive performance of the match, hitting .229 and keeping it tight throughout. However, Alondra Rojas led the Spartan offense with precise setting and steady serving to help Castleton pull ahead late.
  • In a tightly contested third set, the Spartans held off several Norwich runs with key digs from Nicolette Vaughn and steady contributions from Ray and Ford to secure the sweep.
  • Castleton's serving game proved pivotal, as the team tallied 14 aces to disrupt Norwich's momentum and create key scoring runs.  
By the Numbers
  • Ray led the Spartans with nine kills, followed by Ford with eight and Rojas with seven.
  • Rojas also finished with a match-high five aces and 23 assists.
  • Vaughn secured the defense with 20 digs, while Delia Roulston and Brianna Walsh combined for 19.  
  • The Spartans led in digs (63-51), assists (34-16), and aces (14-3).
