CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's lacrosse team secured its second Little East Conference win of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating the University of Southern Maine 12-4 at Dave Wolk Stadium behind a commanding offensive effort and strong defensive play.

How It Happened
After conceding the game's first goal, the Spartans responded in dominant fashion with a 6-0 run stretching into the second quarter. Senior
Cam Frankenhoff led the way offensively, posting four goals and an assist for a five-point day. His younger brother
Carter Frankenhoff added one goal of his own during the first-quarter surge.
The Spartans saw balanced scoring across the roster with multi-goal performances from
Preston Kozlowski,
Liam Evarts, and
Braydon Goddard, each contributing two goals.
Jordan Damske chipped in with one goal and two assists, while
Ethan Esposito and
Jason Samek also added assists to round out the attack.
Southern Maine managed just one goal per quarter, as the Castleton defense held firm and limited the Huskies' opportunities. The Spartans also capitalized on key possessions, winning critical ground balls and navigating through several penalty situations with composure.
In goal,
Zac Smith held strong between the pipes, turning away 10 shots while allowing just 4 goals for a .714 save percentage.
Hollis Jones had a great day on faceoffs, going 12-20 for his best performance of the season.
