NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's tennis team dropped its season opener to Norwich on Tuesday afternoon, falling 8-1 at Shapiro Fieldhouse.

How it Happened
In doubles action, the Spartans were unable to secure a win.
Miki Almirall and
Alberto Lantelme battled at the top spot but ultimately fell 8-4.
Tanner Ciufo and
Remy Maynard put up a fight at the second spot but were topped 8-5, while
Ben Chilkott and
Dylan Shiland fell 8-2 at the third spot.
Lantelme earned Castleton's lone singles victory at the No. 4 position, defeating Gabe Wetting in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3. Almirall, Ciufo, Maynard, Chilkott, and Shiland all dropped their singles matches.

The Spartans will look to bounce back when they travel to face Vermont State University Lyndon on Sunday, March 23, at 1 p.m.
