BEND, Ore. – In tough course conditions on Wednesday, the Vermont State University Castleton men's alpine skiing team finished ninth out of 27 teams in giant slalom, with two Spartans earning USCSA All-American status in GS.
Sondre Andersen marked his first USCSA National Championships appearance with a 10th-place finish, posting the ninth-fastest second run to move up from 17th, he posted a combined time of 2:07.74 and became a USCSA All-American in GS.
Aksel Stroem-Hansen joins him with USCSA All-American status, finishing 12th with a combined time of 2:08.14.
Due to having only two finishers, a ghost time factored into the Spartans' total time of 7:27.56, landing them ninth in team standings. Rocky Mountain College took the top spot with a time of 6:15.17, Babson College followed with a 6:17.66 and Northern Michigan University rounded out the podium with a 6:31.83.
The men return to racing today (March 13) in slalom due to forecasted weather conditions on Friday moving the race up a day.
