CHARLEMONT, Mass. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's alpine skiing team notched a second-place finish Saturday at Berkshire East in slalom, with
Aksel Stroem-Hansen clinching the first individual win for a men's team member this season.
Stroem-Hansen posted a time of 1:30.94 to take the top spot, with
Sondre Andersen finishing fifth with a time of 1:32.49, giving the Spartans two top-10 finishes.
Lucas Pons Morillo (12th),
Nate Hazen (13th),
Kevin McDonough (15th),
Matthew Moeckel (23rd), and
Jack Conneely (25th) completed the field for Castleton.
4:39.17 was enough to put the Spartans in second overall, with Babson taking first with a time of 4:37.02, and UMass Amherst taking third with a time of 4:43.44.
The Spartans finish the weekend of slalom at Catamount in Egremont, Massachusetts today (February 9), and head to Sugarloaf next weekend for giant slalom Saturday, and slalom Sunday.
