DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's basketball team fell to UMass Dartmouth 108-73 on Saturday afternoon at the Tripp Athletic Center.
Crisrael Lithgow led Castleton with 21 points on 6-13 shooting, including a 7-8 mark from the free-throw line. Will Radcliff recorded a double-double with 13 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, while Troy Butler added 12 points and four steals.
Castleton struck first as Radcliff converted a layup to take an early 2-0 lead, but UMass Dartmouth responded with an 11-0 run to seize control. The Corsairs continued to extend their advantage, using a combination of fast-break points and sharp shooting from beyond the arc. By halftime, Castleton trailed 63-31.
The Spartans came out stronger in the second half, outscoring UMass Dartmouth 45-42 over the final 20 minutes. Lithgow led the charge with 14 second-half points, while Butler and Justin Schwarzbeck each knocked down shots from deep to help Castleton cut into the deficit. Despite the effort, the Corsairs maintained their lead to close out the 108-73 victory.
The Spartans return home for their next contest, hosting Plymouth State on Wednesday, February 12, at 5:30 p.m.
