PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Tyler Burke of the Vermont State University Castleton men's ice hockey team was selected as the Little East Conference Men's Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 7.
Burke led his team to a 3-2 overtime win over Saint Michael's College on Wednesday evening, scoring the Spartans' two regulation tallies. The rookie also owned the goal that sent the Teddy Bears raining down on the ice in the first period, before being waived off after being deemed a kick-in goal.
The Vernon, BC native is tied for second on the team in scores with five, good enough to rank sixth in the conference. He has nine points on the season, thanks in part to his four assists. The forward is currently averaging .9 points per game.
Burke and the Castleton hockey team will return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Skidmore College on Wednesday evening, set for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
