Joseph Collects First-Place Finish as Spartans Take Part in USM Alumni Open

GORHAM, Maine – The Vermont State University Castleton men's and women's indoor track & field teams took part in the USM Alumni Open hosted by the University of Southern Maine on Saturday.

The Basics
  • Event: USM Alumni Open
  • Location: USM Fieldhouse – Gorham, Maine

Spartan Men
  • Rookie Kenique Josephs continues to impress as he recorded the first victory of his collegiate career, running a 23.26 in the 200-meter dash.
  • Finishing just off the podium in the triple jump was Britain Goodemote with a 12.66 in the triple jump.
  • Sean Roth also competed in the 200, finishing sixth (24.58).

Spartan Women
  • Isabell Lanfear placed third in the shot put with a distance of 11.69m on her first go around.
  • Kalynn Stevenson finished on the podium in weight throw, third-place, with a distance of 14.35m. She was fourth in the shot put with a toss of 11.46m.
  • Karli Martin had a strong showing in weight throw as she tossed her way to a fifth-place finish (13.10m), despite fouling her first throw.
  • McKenna Castor led the squad on the track with a sixth-place finish in the 55-meter dash (7.95).

Up Next
The Spartans will pause for the Winter Break, before returning to action on January 10 as they travel to Middlebury College for the Snowflake Invitational.
