Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's tennis team honored its five seniors, Stella Forte, Madelyn Nonni, Ginny Trevisan, Sophia Hussak, and Devon Kibbey prior to Saturday's senior day match against the Salem State Vikings. The Spartans were swept 7-0 in the Little East Conference match.

Forte and Nonni battled at the top doubles spot, falling 6-3, while Trevisan and Hussak fell 6-4 at the second spot in a tough battle. Kibbey and Rutkowski dropped at the third spot, 6-0.

In singles play, Kibbey forced the deciding third set at the fifth spot, taking the first set 6-1 but falling 4-6, 0-6 in the final two sets. Forte battled in three sets at the first spot, falling 3-6 in the first set and taking the second set 6-3, but falling 3-6 in the deciding set. Trevisan also battled to three sets, falling 5-7 in the first, taking the second 6-2, and falling 10-8 in the final set at the third spot. At the second spot, Nonni fell 7-6 (7-4) in a tie breaker in the first set, and fell 6-3 in the second set. Hussak fell 6-4, 6-3 at the fourth spot, and Rutkowski fell 6-3, 6-1 at the sixth spot.

The Spartans host Plattsburgh State on Monday, October 20, in a rescheduled non-conference match, set for 4:30 pm.
