Box Score GORHAM, Maine – The Vermont State University Castleton women's tennis team fell 5-2 at Southern Maine Saturday afternoon.

In doubles play, the Spartans forfeited at the third spot, as the Huskies took down Madelyn Nonni and Ginny Trevisan 6-1 at the top spot. At the second spot, Stella Forte and Olivia Rutkowski dropped their match 6-3, leaving Southern Maine with the doubles point.

In singles play, Trevisan notched a 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (10-8) win at No. 3 and Devon Kibbey earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5. At No. 1 Forte fell 6-1, 6-1, while Nonni fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Rutkowksi battles at No. 4, but ultimately fell 6-0, 6-3.

The team heads to Plymouth State on Tuesday, October 14, for a midweek Little East Conference match, set for 3 p.m.
