Women's Basketball Falters While Dingmon Collects Another Double-Double

KEENE, N.H. – The Vermont State University women's basketball team dropped a conference contest at Keene State on Wednesday afternoon, 83-73. Rookie Emily Dingmon scored a career-high 22 points en route to her third straight double-double.

Hosting Keene State was able to build its lead early, seeing itself up 25-12 after the first quarter or play.

A different Spartans' squad showed up in the second as they outscored  the Owls 6-2 to open the period. Stasia Epler started the scoring with a three followed by a layup and free throw by Emily Adams to make it to make it 27-18 (6:49).

The second half mirrored the first as Keene State continued to grow its lead through the third, 72-48. Quarter four was the strongest for VTSU Castleton seeing it lead the scoring 25-11. The green and white went on a 10-point run to open the final stanza led by Dingmon with five points, followed by Epler and Sadie Young with a three and layup, respectively.

Keene State was able to hold on to its lead claiming its second LEC win of the season, 83-73.

Dingmon led the team in both scoring and rebounds as she put up 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. The first year was a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe and 7-for-13 from the field.

Adams trailed closely behind with her 18 points and seven boards, followed by Epler with 16 points of her own. The junior also recorded five rebounds.

Grabbing six rebounds apiece was Arianna Coombs and Maggie McKearin with the former also posting 10 points.

Castleton was better in the paint, outscoring the opposition 38-28. It was also best in the fastbreak battle, leading 16-9.

The Spartans look to capitalize on their home court advantage as they host UMass Dartmouth for a 12 p.m. contest on Saturday.
