KEENE, N.H. – The Vermont State University men's basketball fell to Keene State (RV) on Wednesday afternoon, 101-55.
Keene State scored early and often to open a 22-2 led following a 20-point run. It was a
Ben Seiler jumper at 12:19 that slowed their momentum momentarily to make it 22-4. The hosts kept their foot on the gas, extending their lead to lead to 42 points with five seconds remaining in the half.
Troy Butler posted his first trey as a Spartan as time ran out to make it 59-20.
Butler continued to be strong for Castleton as he recorded six points on back-to-back three-pointer and-ones midway through the second half. Despite the Spartans' best efforts the Owls were able to continue their domination and claim a 101-55 victory.
Bulter led his team in scoring with 20 points, as he went 50 percent from three (4-for-8). He also added a steal and block to the score sheet.
Seiler was also 50 percent from beyond the arc as he was 3-for-6. The junior finished the day with 13 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Heading up the squad's defensive efforts was
Justin Schwarzbeck with his team-high six rebounds and two steals.
VTSU Castleton will return to action on Saturday as it plays host to UMass Dartmouth for a 2 p.m. conference contest.
