RUTLAND, Vt. – No. 14 Colby College defeated Vermont State University Castleton 5-0 in the championship game of the 2025 Bagley Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Victoria Bakopanos provided her third 50+ save game of the year after stopping 55 shots against the Mules. She was selected to the tournament's All-Tournament team with 74 saves and a win in two games played.
Alex Johnson was also selected to the All-Tournament team after providing two goals and one assist to advance the Spartans to the tournament's final.
The game started with both teams battling it out to take the first lead, but no result was found after 20 minutes of play. In the second period, the Mules scored two goals in the first 90 seconds to take a 2-0 lead heading into the third.
Colby's Kylie Makuh provided two goals in the third period. At the same time, tournament MVP Breanna scored on the powerplay to solidify a 5-0 victory over the Spartans and win the Bagley Invitational back-to-back years.
VTSU Castleton returns to conference against Norwich on Friday, January 10 at 6 p.m. at Spartan Arena.
