PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's basketball team fell to Rhode Island College 91-66 on Saturday afternoon. This followed an earlier season loss to the Anchorwomen, in which the Spartans were defeated 90-37. However, this time, Castleton made it a more competitive game.
Emily Adams, who had a career-high 34 points earlier in the week, led her team with 24 points, while
Emily Dingmon added 23. Adams had an efficient outing, shooting 9-16 from the field and 6-7 from the free-throw line.
On defense, Dingmon recorded six rebounds, one block, and one steal, while Adams,

VTSU Castleton struck first as Dingmon scored, assisted by Coombs, to put the Spartans up 2-0 with 9:42 left in the first quarter. After a three-pointer from RIC, Adams gave the Spartans a 5-3 lead with an and-one. The Anchorwomen responded with an 8-0 run and would hold the lead for the rest of the game. By the end of the first quarter, Castleton trailed 26-13.
The middle quarters saw RIC continue its dominance, outscoring the Spartans 47-25 to take a commanding 73-39 lead into the final 10 minutes.
The fourth quarter was the strongest for Castleton, as the Spartans outscored the Anchorwomen 27-18, with Dingmon leading the charge with 13 points. Despite the effort, Castleton ultimately fell 91-66.
