ANDOVER, N.H. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's alpine skiing team took home second-place on day two of slalom at Proctor Ski Area.
 
Sondre Andersen was the Spartans highest finisher in fifth with a time of 1:28.45, followed by Valero Echegoyen in ninth with a time of 1:31.49. Nate Hazen finished 13^th, Kevin McDonough in 22^nd, Miki Almirall in 27^th, and Leo Schnipper in 30^th.
 
Castleton finished second with a combined time of 4:32.26, behind Babson in first with a time of 4:22.45, and Clarkson in third with a time of 4:34.85.
 
After four races, two Spartans are in the top-10 of the overall standings, with Andersen in fourth with 215 points and Echegoyen in 10^th with 101 points. Hazen sits in 11^th, with last season's National Champion runner-up in slalom, Aksel Stroem-Hansen sitting in 15^th despite missing the last two races due to injury, McDonough (22^nd), Jack Conneely (27^th), Oliver Olsen (28^th), Lucas Pons Morillo (30^th), Matthew Moeckel (34^th), Almirall (38^th), and Schnipper (42^nd) round out the Spartans standings.
 
The Spartans head to Whiteface Friday, January 24 for two days of giant slalom.
