CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's tennis team swept Little East Conference opponent University of Southern Maine Saturday afternoon, 9-0.
 
In doubles play, Madelyn Nonni and Ginny Trevisan earned an 8-0 win at flight one, while Stella Forte and Olivia Rutkowski earned an 8-1 win at flight two. Sophia Hussak and Andrea Rodriguez won by default at flight three to give the Spartans all three doubles points.
 
In singles play, Forte earned the first flight win 6-0, 6-1 and Nonni earned the second flight win 6-3, 6-2. Trevisan won flight three 6-1, 6-0 and Rutkowski won flight four 6-2, 6-1. Devon Kibbey finished out singles play, winning flight five 6-1, 6-1. The Spartans won flight six via default, giving Hussak with win.
 
The Spartans are back at home on Wednesday, October 2 at 4 p.m.
