Women's Tennis Earns Doubleheader Sweep Against VTSU Lyndon

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – The Vermont State University women's tennis team swept VTSU Lyndon in a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.
 
In match one for the Spartans, Stella Forte and Madelyn Nonni earned their first doubles win of the season at the top flight, 8-0. At the second spot, Sophia Hussak and Olivia Rutkowski earned their first doubles win as well by an 8-0 score. Ginny Trevisan and Pearl Bellomo were credited with a third-flight victory via forfeit.
 
In singles matches, Forte won 8-0 at the one spot, with Nonni and Trevisan earning 8-0 wins at the second and third spots, respectively. Bellomo earned an 8-1 win at the fourth spot, with Hussak and Rutkowski earning wins via forfeit at the fifth and sixth spots.
 
In match two, Forte and Nonni earned an 8-1 win in the first doubles spot, with Trevisan and Bellomo earning an 8-0 win at the second spot. Hussak and Rutkowski won via forfeit at the third spot to give the Spartans three more doubles wins on the day.
 
Forte and Trevisan earned 8-0 wins at the first and second singles spots, with Hussak earning an 8-1 win at the third flight. Rutkowski earned the win at the fourth spot due to an injury retirement early in the set. Nonni and Bellomo both won singles matches via forfeit.
 
The Spartans are back in action at Rhode Island College on Saturday, September 14 at 1 p.m.
