Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's tennis team dropped its non-conference home opener to Thomas, 5-4, Saturday afternoon.
 
In doubles matches for the Spartans, Stella Forte and Madelyn Nonni fell 8-6 as did Olivia Rutkowski and Pearl Bellomo. Ginny Trevisan and Sophia Hussak fell 8-1 in their doubles match.
 
In singles competition, the Spartans took four of the six matches. In flight six, Devon Kibbey took the match 6-2, 6-4 over Ceileidh Harnum. In the fifth flight Rutkowski earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Tracy Lopez. Trevisan notched her first singles win of the season 6-3, 6-2 over Taylor Juhase. In the first flight, Forte put up a 6-2, 6-3 win over Keira Gilman. 
 
The Spartans are back in action on the road at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, September 7 at 12:00 p.m.
