CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's lacrosse team was defeated 17-3 in Little East Conference action by Plymouth State on Tuesday evening at Dave Wolk Stadium.
 
The Spartans (2-10, 1-3 LEC) were outshot 47-15 on goal, but the team's 30 saves in the contest were the most in at least 20 seasons. Chase Stychaluk stopped 21 shots in 37 minutes while 
Finn Maniaci made seven over 15 minutes. 
Zac Smith stopped a pair of shots in just eight minutes of action. The Panthers (8-4, 3-1 LEC) won 18-of-23 face-offs and had a 48-14 edge in ground balls.    
 
Cam Frankenhoff had a goal and an assist in the contest with 
Carter Frankenhoff and 
Jordan Damske adding goals as well. 
Casey Meczywor and 
Hunter Sarro had assists, with Meczywor adding four ground balls.
 
Alex Hawkom had four goals and an assist for five points with Ryan Collins contributing five points on a goal and four helpers. Josh Manickam had two goals as well. In total, 13 different Panthers scored in the game. Aiden Renner had eight ground balls on nine face-off wins and all three Panther goalies that appeared made four saves with one goal allowed.
 
PSU pushed ahead 6-0 before 
Cam Frankenhoff scored on a man-up chance midway through the second quarter. The lead stretched to 9-1 at the half and 11-1 before 
Carter Frankenhoff scored off Cam's assist in the third to make it 11-2. Castleton's final goal came midway through the fourth quarter when Damske scored on a helper from Meczywor.
 
VTSU Castleton is on the road on Saturday at Southern Maine at noon.
