WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's hockey team was held scoreless by Williams College 4-0 Tuesday evening.
Highlighting Tuesday's contest was
Victoria Bakopanos, who set a new career-high by making 63 saves against the Ephs in Tuesday's contest. The Kirkland, Quebec native has 119 saves with a .929 save percentage in her last two starts.
Williams' Leah Rubinshteyn scored the lone goal in the opening period to give the Ephs a 1-0 lead after one.
Castleton came out firing to try and tie the game up early in the second period.
Moa Carlsson and
Alex Johnson led the team in shots with three each to their name. Defensively, Castleton soaked a season-high 27 blocks, with
Olivia Carter and
Maysa Ford leading the team with a combined nine blocks.
Despite the Spartans' strong efforts, Williams rallied for three more goals, including two power goals to extend their lead to four and seal the victory.
VTSU Castleton returns to action for the 20th-year celebration of Spartan Arena this Saturday, December 7 at 1 p.m. against Worcester State.
