PAXTON, Mass. – The Vermont State University Castleton men's basketball team dropped its last contest of the fall semester, falling 93-75 to Anna Maria College on Saturday afternoon.
VTSU Castleton grabbed an early 9-6 lead as four different Spartans owned buckets in the opening four minutes. It was
Ben Seiler we began the scoring as he sank a three to kick off the game.
The hosts worked quick to close the gap and gained control at 15:47 as Sean Zabari posted a layup to make it 11-9. Castleton worked to keep it close but saw the Amcats own a 45-37 lead at the half.
Half two continued to be competitive as the Spartans were able to keep themselves within striking distance, maintaining a nine-point margin for a majority of the stanza. A 6-2 run saw Anna Maria grow its advantage to 14 points with 11:12 remaining on the game clock (64-50). Despite VTSU Castleton's best efforts, the hosts never dropped below a nine-point lead and collected their second victory of the season, 93-75.
Collecting his third double-double of the season with a career-high 27 points and 11 rebounds was
Will Radcliff. The junior led his squad off the defensive boards with seven grabs.
Both putting up 12 points apiece was
