RUTLAND, Vt. – Vermont State University Castleton women's hockey fell to Plymouth St. Saturday, 3-0.
VTSU Castleton hosted New England Hockey Conference opponent Plymouth St at Spartan Arena on Saturday. The two teams faced off Friday, with Castleton taking the game 3-1. In light of today's contest, it was highlighted by the 15th annual "Pink the Rink" promotion. Players, staff, and fans attended today's game wearing pink in support of defeating cancer.
With puck drop taking place, the Spartans got off to a slow start and allowed for Plymouth to find the back of the net just minutes into the game. Later on in the period, Castleton let up their only penalty of the game and the Panthers capitalized on it to give them a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.
Castleton had many looks and opportunities to get back into the game but they couldn't find the back of the net. The Panthers would go on to score one more to finalize the score at 3-0 and go even with Castleton head-to-head this year.
The Spartans will return to action next Friday, January 26 at 6 p.m. against No. 9 Norwich University.
