Dindino Lands USILA Recognition; Men's Lacrosse Falls at Keene

KEENE, N.H. – The Castleton University men's lacrosse team dropped a Little East Conference contest to Keene State on Tuesday afternoon, falling 19-6 to the perennial power in the league.
 
Prior to the game for the Spartans, Christopher Dindino was named the to the USILA DIII Team of the Week as the goalie. Dindino is the first Spartan to garner USILA recognition since Cameron Russell did so in 2019 and is the fourth Castleton player ever to earn weekly recognition from the national organization. He is the first Spartan goalie to be recognized with USILA DIII Team of the Week honors. Dindino was named LEC Goalie of the Week on Monday after stopping 34 out of the 44 shots he faced last week, including a 29-save outing against Norwich.
 
The Owls outshot Castleton 65-22 overall and 39-16 on goal. The Spartans were 23-of-32 clearing the ball while Keene was nearly perfect, 21-of-22. The Owls had a 41-26 ground-ball advantage and a 20-9 face-off edge in the contest.
 
Dindino continued to stand tall in goal, stopping 20 shots between the pipes on the night with a .513 save percentage. Ethan Esposito had a team-best three points on a goal and two assists while Dawson Nalette and Ian Edgar had two goals apiece. Sean Kimura dished out two assists and Matt Gregoire scored one time. Casey Meczywor and Chris LaBonte had four ground balls each and Gabe Rubio caused four turnovers.
 
Andrew Miller amassed five points via three goals and two helpers while Sebastian Foresi had a goal and three assists. Six others added two goals each for the Owls. Gabe Pereira dominated the face-off dot, winning 19-of-26 with 14 ground balls. Charlie Giuliotti made nine saves in the win before giving way to Andrew Wiegand for the final 11 minutes in goal.
 
Keene State opened the game with nine straight goals before Castleton broke into the scoring column just before halftime on a goal from Edgar. The lead reached 12-1 in the third quarter before Edgar potted his second goal to make it 12-2. Esposito's goal made it a 14-3 game before Nalette scored to make it 15-4. Nalette's second goal made the score 18-5 and Gregoire's goal rounded out the scoring in the game at 19-6.
 
Castleton is back in action on Saturday at home against Eastern Connecticut State at 1 p.m.
