WILLIMANTIC, Ct. – Vermont State University Castleton field hockey secured their first Little East Conference victory over Eastern Connecticut State Saturday morning, 9-2.
Highlighting the match was the Crondall, England native
Emily Harris, who tallied 11 points (5G,1A) in Saturday's victory. With her five goals, the senior forward became just the 14th individual in division three history to score 100 career goals. Harris also passed Rachel Pruesser (219) for the most points in VTSU Castleton history with 226 career points. Harris has 35 goals and 75 points through 11 games thus far.
First year defender
Frouke Adriaens had a career game in Saturday's match. Adriaens provided two assists to senior forward
Madison Hanna, who buried two goals to put the Spartans up 2-1 at the end of the first quarter. Adriaens also set up Harris for her 100th career goal late in the third period. The Maastricht, Netherlands native capitalized on a late penalty stroke opportunity to score her first career goal, bringing her final stat line to one goal and three assists in the victory.
Peyton Richardson had a strong performance against the Warriors, tallying two assists and a goal. Richardson is 4for4 on goals and assist thus far in the season. Sophomore defender
Jess Smithson also tallied an assist to get on the stat sheet.
Zoe Martin claimed another victory in the cage, improving her record to 8-3 on the year.
The Spartans are back in action Sunday, October 15 at Dave Wolk Stadium against #10 Bates at noon.
