Men's Alpine Skiing Sweeps Podium, Wins Second Straight Race

ANDOVER, N.H. – The Castleton University men's alpine ski team picked up its second win in as many races to open the season, topping nine-team field at Proctor Ski Area on Sunday.
 
The Spartans claimed the top four spots on the leaderboard and had six of the top-10 finishers at the event. Filippo Collini's time of 1:27.09 was just fast enough to top Saturday's winner Lorenzo Mencaccini's time of 1:27.36. Aksel Stroem-Hansen finished third at 1:27.72, giving Castleton three racers separated by less than three-quarters of a second.
 
Elliot Perretta clocked in at 1:29.67 for a fourth-place finish while Nate Hazen's 1:31.00 was good for seventh place. Trent Orrange Paton was ninth with a time of 1:31.74. Other Spartan notables included Christopher Kerven in 13th place at 1:32.92 and Juan Alba Praska in 16th with a. time of 1:33.94.
 
Castleton's team time of 4:22.17 was more than 12 seconds faster than second-place Babson's time of 4:34.19.
 
The Spartans return to the slopes on Friday morning at West Mountain for a giant slalom race.
