SALEM, Mass. – The Castleton men's tennis team took a brief road trip to take on Salem State in an LEC matchup Saturday afternoon, falling 9-0 to the Vikings.
The Spartans (2-8, 0-5 LEC) fell behind 3-0 after the afternoon's doubles matches, with an 8-1 loss on first doubles serving as the closest contest. It was more of the same on singles courts, with
Phil Kluge falling in straight sets before
Connor Davis and
Dante Buttino each lost 6-1, 6-1.
Jason Lipscomb battled on fourth singles, eventually falling 6-1, 6-3 before Salem State (6-4, 3-1 LEC) completed the sweep with decisive wins on fifth and sixth singles.
Castleton will look to get back on track Sunday, April 24 with a non-conference matchup against NVU-Johnson. Opening serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
