RUTLAND, Vt. – The Castleton men's tennis team hosted Rhode Island College in an LEC matchup Saturday afternoon, with
Miguel Almirall Perez claiming the team's lone win in an 8-1 loss.
The Spartans (2-6, 0-3 LEC) fell behind 0-3 after doubles matches, with an 8-2 loss by Almirall Perez and Jawhara Rennalls presenting the biggest challenge for the Anchormen (8-0, 3-0 LEC).

Dante Buttino both fell 6-1, 6-0 on first and third singles to clinch the team victory for Rhode Island College before
Connor Davis fell 6-4, 6-0 on second singles to make it 6-0. The Anchormens' lead ballooned to eight with wins over
Jason Lipscomb and Rennalls before Almirall Perez prevented the sweep with a win on fifth singles.
The freshman continues to impress for Castleton, tallying his team-best fifth singles victory of the season with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Rhode Island's Jack Cadden.
The Spartans are back in action Thursday, April 21 for a matchup with preseason favorite UMass Boston, with opening serve set for 4 p.m.
