GENEVA, N.Y. - The Castleton University men's hockey team fell to sixth-ranked Hobart Friday evening by a final score of 12-2. Senior captain
Glenn Wiswell netted both Spartan goals in his 100th career game.
Wiswell became the 12th player in program history to reach the century mark in games played, while also inching closer to fourth-place in career goals with a total of 39. Castleton (4-17-1, 0-14-1 NEHC) trailed 5-0 before the senior first found the back of the net at the 13:14 mark of the opening period, connecting with
Zach Papapetros and linemate
Alex Maunula.
Hobart (15-4-2, 10-2-2 NEHC) would take a 6-1 advantage into the first intermission and not look back, netting another five in the ensuing 20 minutes.
Wiswell struck again for his sixth of the year with just over three and a half minutes remaining in the second period with an assist from freshman
Romeo Torain, who notched his first career point.
The Statesmen would tack on one more in the final period.
Goaltender
Brandon Collett started, but
Dominic Rodrigue saw the majority of minutes as he posted 30 saves in 51 minutes and change. Hobart claimed a 46-21 advantage in shots on goal.
Castleton travels to Elmira for another conference matchup Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
