CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton University women's volleyball team wrapped up its 2022 campaign on Saturday, falling to UMass Boston in three sets in Little East Conference action at Glenbrook Gym.
The Spartans finish 2022 with a 5-20 record overall and 0-8 mark in the LEC. UMass Boston finishes the regular season 7-17 overall and 3-5 in LEC play, earning the No. 6 seed in the upcoming LEC Tournament. Castleton honored its lone senior before the contest, holding a ceremony for
Samantha Pickett prior to the day's match to recognize her dedication to the program.
The Beacons controlled play a majority of the afternoon, winning 25-11, 25-14, 25-11. As a team, UMass Boston held a 35-16 edge in kills, 19-0 edge in aces and 5-3 edge in blocks. Castleton had a 28-27 advantage in digs on the day.
Hailey Martinoich had a team-best six kills, while
Vanessa LeBrun added five. Martinovich also had 12 digs and two blocks on the day.
Maddie Delsignore had 13 assists and four digs.
Taryn Broughal had 11 kills and four blocks while Livia Trindade had nine kills and five digs. Toni Guerra racked up seven aces and Amelia Devlin had 25 assists.
