CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton women's basketball team received a 17-point, 17-rebound double-double from
Ryleigh Coloutti to lead the team to victory over in-state rival NVU-Lyndon on Wednesday night, 57-37.
The Spartans improved to 9-6 overall, while Lyndon drops to 6-4 on the season. Castleton shot just 27.7 percent (18-of-65) from the floor and 15.0 percent (3-of-20) from three, but knocked down 18-of-21 (85.7 percent) from the free-throw line. The Hornets made just 22.1 percent (15-of-68) from the field and 18.2 percent (4-of-22) from three. Lyndon struggled at the free-throw line, hitting just 3-of-12 (25.0 percent). Castleton dominated the glass, 57-49, leading to a 15-5 edge in second-chance scoring.

Tim Barrett won his 400th career game at the collegiate level, picking up his 379th win as women's head coach in addition to his 21 wins as men's head coach. Barrett coached the Spartan men from 1998-2001 before moving to the women's side from 2001 until the present.
Coloutti's 17 points and 17 boards were both game-high totals, with her rebound tally marking a new career-high.
Kelly Vuz had 15 points and made 6-of-6 at the free-throw line while grabbing eight rebounds.
Liz Bailey racked up 10 points and seven rebounds in just 17 minutes of play off the bench.
Olivia Perry added six points and six boards for the Spartans in addition to four steals.
Sage Smith led NVU-Lyndon with 12 points and added eight rebounds. Ariez Pimentel had six points and Lea Crompton and Nyah Garner had five each. Riann Fortin had a team-leading 10 rebounds, while Saleena Porter added nine.
The Hornets opened the game with a five-point lead, keeping Castleton off the board for the first three minutes of the contest. Coloutti buried a jumper to get the Spartans on the board before Vuz dropped in a layup to make it a one-point game, 5-4. The Hornets kept the lead hovering around three points, 9-6, when Coloutti knocked down a triple to level the score at 9-9. Lyndon again pulled ahead on a layup, but Vuz knocked down two late free throws to end the first quarter with the game tied, 11-11.
Lyndon got the first bucket of the quarter more than a minute into the second frame, taking a 13-11 lead, but seven straight points by Castleton that was capped by a three from Coloutti put the Spartans ahead for the first time in the game, 18-13. Smith knocked down a three for the Hornets to stop Castleton's run, but Vuz answered with another three for the Spartans to make it 21-16. Castleton closed the half on a 6-0 run, four of the points coming from Bailey, holding the Hornets scoreless over the final 4:50 of the quarter.
The run continued into the third quarter, with Castleton scoring the first four points out of the halftime break and pushing the lead to 35-19. Smith hit another three to stop Castleton's stretch, but four more points from the Spartans kept the Hornets at bay. The two sides played evenly over the final five minutes of the third quarter, with Castleton leading 45-27 through three.
The Spartans opened the final 10 minutes with a 7-2 run that spanned more than three minutes, but Lyndon responded with an 8-0 stretch of its own nearly five minutes of game time before
Gwyn Tatton broke the stretch with a layup. The layup began a five-point run for Castleton to end the game, sealing the win 57-37.
