WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The Castleton University women's volleyball team saw its 2020-21 season come to a close on Friday night, falling in four sets to Little East Conference opponent Eastern Connecticut State University at Geissler Gym.

The Spartans conclude the season 0-5, while Eastern Connecticut wraps up its 2020-21 campaign unbeaten at 5-0. Eastern Connecticut won the opening set 25-9 before taking set two, 25-15. The Spartans claimed set three by a score of 26-24, but the Warriors wrapped up the night with a 25-8 win in the final set.

The Warriors led 48-23 in kills, 19-6 in aces and 67-55 in digs on the day. Castleton swung at a -.016 rate, making 25 errors with 23 kills. Eastern Connecticut hit at a .283 clip, making just 18 errors with 48 kills.

Lizzie Goodrich led Castleton with nine kills while adding a solo block and a block assist.
Jessica Trudeau had six kills and a team-leading 15 digs, while
Madison Hamelink added five kills and 10 digs.
Bre MacDuff had 18 assists, seven digs and a trio of aces, while
Meghan Zawatsky had 11 digs and three aces in her final collegiate contest.
Mackenzie Wade also added three kills and eight digs.

Eastern Connecticut was guided by 10 kills and 10 digs from Alaetra Long, while Abby Stern added eight kills and four aces. Anna Barry had seven kills on the night. Meg Verizzi racked up 34 assists and 22 digs in the contest, while Madison Bell had 10 digs of her own. Paula Perez racked up 10 service aces in the win of the Warriors.
