RUTLAND, Vt. -- The Castleton University men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 Little East Conference (LEC) decision to Western Connecticut State Saturday afternoon at the Grand Slam Tennis Center.

The Spartans (0-6, 0-3 LEC) fell behind early after doubles play as the Colonials (2-1, 2-1 LEC) swept through and took a commanding 3-0 lead. Competing for the first time together at the first doubles flight, Luke Cohen and Rowan Kidder suffered an 8-1 loss to Will Hogan and Sebastian Frisch. Jason Lipscomb and Connor Davis stole two games despite falling 8-2 to Kevin Tenesaca and Jay Kilcourse at second doubles, while Alijah Seymour and Rafael Robles fell 8-0 at the third doubles flight.

As the match entered singles play, the Colonials swept through and took all six matches. Davis was the most successful as he fought hard before falling at second singles, 6-3, 6-2 to Frisch, while Seymour won three games in the first set before dropping a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Mitchell Kindred at fifth singles.

Castleton returns to action Tuesday, April 20, as it travels up north to take on Northern Vermont-Lyndon at 3:30 p.m.
