CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton University men's lacrosse team dropped a Little East Conference decision to UMass Boston Saturday afternoon by a final score of 30-6 at Dave Wolk Stadium.

The Spartans (0-6, 0-1 LEC) were outshot 66-50 in the contest by the Beacons (2-0, 2-0 LEC), and UMass Boston had a 61-41 edge in ground balls. The Spartans went 18-of-32 on the clear, while UMass Boston went 24-of-30 clearing the ball. UMass Boston also held a 23-14 edge in face-off wins, and caused 17 Castleton turnovers while Castleton caused 11 Beacon miscues.

Collin Johnson had five points for Castleton on two goals and three assists, while
Chris LaBonte had two goals and an assist and
Trey Lang scored twice. LaBonte also went 7-of-14 at the face-off dot and caused a pair of turnovers.
Ian March and
Jason Venezia scooped up six ground balls each defensively.
Maxx Ingison got the start in goal and made 11 saves with 18 goals against, and
Chris Wilk stopped seven shots with 12 goals against.

The Beacons were guided by a nine-point outing from Gavin Admirand, who had six goals and three assists on the day. He also caused four turnovers and collected three ground balls. Darragh Fahey, Conor Lenfest and Donovan Prozinski had three goals apiece, with Fahey adding five assists and Lenfest adding three helpers. Jack Dobrzynski went 22-of-32 on face-offs and had 16 ground balls, while Lenfest added seven of his own on the afternoon. Four goalies split time for the Beacons, led by 27 minutes of action from Christian Meinhold, who made 14 saves. Trevor Koppy was credited with the win, making one save in one quarter of action.

UMass Boston got on the board first, scoring just over three minutes into the game. Castleton leveled the score at 1-1 just 41 seconds later, as LaBonte finished a pass from Johnson for the Spartans' first goal of the day. The Beacons went on a lengthy run from there, however, racking up 13 unanswered goals before LaBonte scored again on an assist from Johnson to make it 14-2 with 10:51 to play in the opening half. After UMass Boston answered once more, Castleton responded with a goal from Lang, again assisted by Johnson. Johnson got on the board himself with 5:14 to play in the opening half, scoring off a
Conner Ladabouche assist to make it 17-4 late in the second quarter. The Beacons added two more goals before half time to carry a 19-4 lead into the break.

UMass Boston scored the first three goals of the second half before Johnson potted his second of the game to stop the run. Lang then scored his second at the mid-way mark of the third, marking Castleton's final score of the contest. UMass Boston closed the game on a 7-0 run to cap the score at 30-6.

The Spartans are back in action Thursday night at New England College at 7 p.m. for a non-conference competition.
